The Plan to Cut Veterans Disability Benefits

Currently in Washington DC, Congressional Republicans are proposing to cut the benefits of disabled veterans by changing how cost of living is adjusted which can result in lost benefits for many disabled veterans. According to the Social Security Administration, “permanently disabled veterans who started receiving VA disability benefits at age 30 would see their benefits cut by more than $1,300 a year at age 45; $1,800 a year at age 55; and $2,260 a year at age 65.” House Speaker John Boehner is looking to group together cuts to Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid along with reduced taxes for the wealthy, while on the opposite end of the spectrum, Sen. Bernie Sanders is aiming to help the disabled veterans retain their benefits. There is a petition that you can sign located here which allows you to urge the Congressional Republicans not to make cuts to the benefits of disabled veterans.
