The Social Security Agency is aiming to process claims faster to help ease the burden for those who have a condition which causes them to be disabled. This is being done by the expansion of a program which fast tracks the processing of disability claims for anyone with a serious condition. For example, a few conditions that would be considered are cancer, early-onset Alzheimer’s and Lou Gehrig’s disease. Previously, these claims could take years to get approved. The large number of claims has created a backlog of disability claims and it has also increased the wait time for those waiting to get approved.
According to the Agency, two thirds of initial applicants are rejected and then you must appeal to an administrative law judge. If your claim is rejected, you should contact an attorney that specializes in social security law. They can help you get the benefits you deserve.
