Are You Using the VA’s eBenefits?

The self-service web portal, designed and run by both the Veterans Administration and the Department of Defense, provides information and faster delivery of service-related benefits.  This article explains some of the many features that are prompting more and more veterans to join the already two million registered users on eBenefits.

30,000 veterans use eBenefits every day to track the progress of their VA compensation and pension claims, even receiving electronic message alerts when more information is needed rather than waiting for a letter in the mail.  Veterans can also instantly transfer or print letters verifying VA eligibility and military service to request benefits such as VA disability.  Another popular usage of the site is the viewing of compensation history to ensure correct monthly payments; these are just a few of the many features available to users.

Veterans, active duty members, Reserve and Guard members- even their families and survivors- are all eligible for eBenefits access.  Users must first register with the Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS) and obtain a log-in, or if not in DEERS, call 1-800-827-1000 and select option 7.  If you are one of the remaining 35 million veterans not yet using eBenefits, now is the time to join!
